About — Melo Digitals, Hamilton, Ontario

We write down the things most agencies leave out of the pitch.

What we charge and how. Whose name the accounts are in. What happens if you leave. What didn't work last month. It's all published, before you ask — because an agency that only commits to things verbally is telling you something.

Why we work this way

Most businesses that come to us have been burned once already. Usually not by bad work — by things nobody mentioned at the start.

The fee that turned out to be a percentage of ad spend. The website that couldn't be moved. The Google account in the agency's name. The monthly report that only ever contained good news.

None of that is illegal and most of it isn't even malicious. It's just what happens when the awkward parts of an arrangement are left for later.

So we put the awkward parts first

Every service page on this site names a situation where we'd tell you not to buy that service. Our Google Ads page explains why percentage-of-spend billing creates a conflict of interest. Our web design page has a table showing what each platform costs you if you leave, including the one with real lock-in.

And we report what failed

Every monthly report includes at least one thing that underperformed and what we changed because of it. A report with only wins is either luck or editing, and after a few months of it you stop being able to tell which.

We're small, and that's the trade

You deal with the people doing the work. We don't have an account manager layer and we can't take on unlimited clients — which is why we'd rather turn down work that doesn't fit than stretch to cover it.

What you can hold us to

These are the same four things we suggest asking every agency on your shortlist. The answers vary more than the websites do.

Flat fees, never a percentage of spend Our ad management fee is quoted as a dollar amount before you sign and doesn't move when your budget does. If the right advice is to cut your spend in half, giving it costs us nothing.
Your accounts, your name Ad accounts under your billing, Search Console and Analytics in your accounts, domains registered to you. We're added as a user. When we leave, we're removed — and nothing goes with us.
Lock-in disclosed before you commit Every platform has an exit cost. Ours are published in a table on the web design page, including the one where leaving means rebuilding. You decide knowing it, not after.
Reports that lead with leads Leads and cost per lead at the top, rankings further down, and one line every month naming what underperformed. You can verify every number yourself, because the tools are yours.

Who you'll actually be working with

Small enough that these are the people on your calls, not the ones on the pitch deck.

Where we are

Hamilton, and honest about the radius

Our office is in Hamilton, Ontario. We work across Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown, Burlington and Grimsby as part of that, and we take on work in Oakville, Brantford and St. Catharines — each of which has its own page explaining what we can and can't do there.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Our Google Business Profile is pinned in Hamilton, so we don't appear in other cities' map results and we say so on every location page rather than letting people assume otherwise.

If we'd fudge our own limitations to look better, you'd have no reason to trust our reporting on yours. That's the entire argument for saying it out loud, and it's cost us nothing so far.

We also work with clients well outside southern Ontario, because search, web and software work doesn't require proximity. Local meetings help for process mapping, photography and brand work involving physical surfaces — and for very little else.

Twenty minutes, and a straight answer

We'll tell you which of our services fits, including when the answer is none of them yet. No obligation either way.
